YOUR HEALTH

Acupuncture takes a holistic, or whole-body approach to health. This means your practitioner will take into account your whole self, not just your symptoms, in order to get to the root of your health concerns. We will work together to find out how factors like your lifestyle, emotional and mental well-being may be affecting your health.

Getting the chance to really discuss your health concerns with your healthcare provider – and having your provider really listen – may be new to you. Think of it as your opportunity to form a partnership for better health. The more you take part in your healing process, the more successful it will be!

WHAT IS QI?

At the core of this ancient medicine is the philosophy that Qi (pronounced “chee”), or the body’s vital source of energy, flows throughout the body. Qi helps to move and animate the body and protect it from illness, pain and disease. A person’s health is influenced by the quality, quantity and balance of their Qi.

Qi circulates through specific pathways called meridians or acupuncture channels. There are 14 main channels throughout the body and each is connected to specific organs and glands. Their job is to transport Qi throughout the body to nourish every cell, organ, gland tissue, bone and muscle.

When the free-flow of Qi is disrupted, that is when the body will feel pain and become diseased. The goal of acupuncture is to restore any imbalances of Qi to allow the body to return to a pain-free and balanced state of health.

IS ACUPUNCTURE SAFE?

Yes! When performed by a completely trained and licensed acupuncturist, acupuncture is extremely safe. It is an all-natural, drug-free therapy, yielding no side-effects. There is very little danger of infection from the acupuncture needles because they are individually packaged, sterile, used once and then discarded.

DOES IT HURT?

Acupuncture needles are typically not much thicker than a single hair, and their insertion is practically painless. It is nothing like receiving an ordinary injection, or even like getting your blood drawn. In some cases, you will not even know the needles are in place. If anything, you may experience a very slight prick when the needle is inserted. But not to worry – if you’re nervous, your acupuncturist will be happy to address any questions or concerns before your treatment begins. Most people find acupuncture extremely relaxing and often fall asleep during their treatment!

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The number of treatments will vary from person to person. Some people experience immediate relief; others may take a few days or weeks to achieve optimum results. Chronic conditions usually take longer to resolve than acute ones.

Treatment frequently depends on a variety of factors: your body’s constitution, the severity and duration of the problem, and the quality and quantity of your body’s Qi. Your acupuncturist may suggest one or two treatments per week, monthly visits for health maintenance, or occasional treatments for “tune-ups.”

Visit East Aurora Acupuncture on Facebook!

About Your Acupuncturist

Location and Hours

Does Acupuncture Work?

Acupuncture for Anxiety

Rates

East Aurora Acupuncture, 502 Main Street, East Aurora, NY 14052 (716) 714-5837

We are excited to announce that we will start offering a collaboration of Community Acupuncture and Sound Healing with Carrie Evans of HUM Yoga &
